The Art room at West is budding with creativity, innovation, and excitement. Everyday we are diving in to a stimulating environment where each student feels comfortable to learn, inquire, and produce artwork. Our culture starts with the precept that everyone is creative, unique, imaginative, and expressive. From this launching pad we incorporate GRIT, growth mindset, and ART_IS_TRY mentalities to bring all students' ideas to life in many art mediums.

We have an eclectic platform to introduce many mediums of art to our students at West. We currently are working toward more technology for the art room, and have just received cameras to begin a photography unit. Technology and Art are becoming best friends in this age, and we hope to give students here a sampling of what is happening in the fusion of both of these dynamic worlds.

After drawing skills are introduced, painting is the logical progression.
Clay is a student favorite and never is disappointing...unless rules are not followed and the clay blows up in the kiln! :)

This is a great unit at each grade where students create themed and sometimes collaborative 3D sculptures.
Whether Additive or Subtractive Printmaking, students create unique prints of their favorite animals, logos, city-scapes or landscapes.
Photography and photo editing is becoming a class favorite for each grade.
