WHATS GOING ON AT WEST
Welcome!
Welcome to the Art Room website of West Middle School.
Students sit three to five to a table and all have specific jobs to manage themselves respectfully. Each quarter, students not only produce art, but learn complex problem solving techniques, participate in critiques, and learn about many artists throughout history. Also included in the students' curriculum are journal and sketchbook assignments to increase their reading, writing, drawing, thinking, presenting and listening skills.

About the Teacher
I am a 40 year old graduate of the Oakland University Education and Studio Art Programs with a minor in Art History. I completed my student teaching in the Rochester Community School District and immediately was placed in a long-term position that ended the spring of 2010. I taught for six years at Algonquin Middle School- part of Chippewa Valley Schools, and now I am thrilled to be teaching here at West. I am married to Laura Coleman who is also a graduate of OU's Special Ed Masters program and (Elementary) Education program. She is a teacher at Van Hoosen Middle School. We have been happily married for fourteen years, and have two intelligent, beautiful daughters, Olivia and Madelyn Coleman who are both at Musson Elementary.
